Senior-level hires and promotions for the week of April 9, 2018

At KIPP, a national nonprofit network of charter schools:

▪ Leyla Bravo has been named principal of KIPP Sunrise Academy, the network’s first school in Miami. It is scheduled to launch in Liberty City in August. Bravo, who has a degree in government from Harvard, previously was the assistant principal at KIPP Infinity Middle School in Harlem.

▪ Kayla Johnson has been named an assistant principal of Sunrise Academy. She most recently was a manager of teacher leadership development at Teach for America. Johnson has degrees in English and criminology from the University of Florida and a master’s in teaching, learning and curriculum from Drexel University.

▪ Monica Kress will be managing director of operations for the KIPP Miami region. She was with the network in New Jersey, and she has a graduate degree from Pace University.
