Nutrition Plan – KIPP Miami

Meal Distribution:

The M-DCPS Student Meal Distribution started September 1, 2020 at all school sites.  Distribution days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please have your student ID number ready. If you do not have your student ID, contact your school’s School Operations Manager or Associate Operations Manager.

Meal’s Provided Include:

Tuesdays:      2 Breakfast & 2 Lunch meals

Thursdays:    3 Breakfast & 3 Lunch meals

Other Meal Distributions:

We wanted to share the updated MDCPS grab-and-go sites.  Meals will be served from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays only at the following locations:

Community Resources:

Food Assistance (SNAP)/Medicaid/Temporary Cash Assistance (TANF)/ Reemployment Assistance

Packets with applications for SNAP, Medicaid, Reemployment Assistance and TANF are available at 26 Miami-Dade libraries. Applications can be returned at these libraries, by mail, fax or at one of seven DCF locations to be announced. Applications will be available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF) announced a pilot program that will allow food stamp recipients to purchase groceries online from Walmart or Amazon starting Tuesday, April 21. The benefits do not cover the cost of delivery. DCF is working with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Florida Retail Federation to expand the network. For more information, click on the following link to read about how to apply for food assistance or call 1-866-762-2237.

Financial Planning Web Series for KIPP Families and Alumni

The National KIPP Alumni Network is partnering with financial planning experts to deliver a virtual event series focused on navigating financial decision-making and wage-loss during COVID-19. The series will be hosted by Ashley Copeland, CEO of Stacks and the City and KIPP ENC alum. The first webinar will focus on Emergency Financial Planning and will be offered on April 29th from 6-7pm EST and April 30th from 1-2pm EST. KIPP families and alumni can sign up here for one of the two times.

 

Mental Health Services:

In coordination with our wellness partners, The Bayview Foundation and Psych Solutions, we want to make sure KIPP families are staying healthy, positive, and learning. We can connect you to a wide range of emotional and mental wellness services including Telehealth sessions for students and any family member.
