About Applying

How can families apply?

KIPP Miami provides two options for families to apply to a KIPP Miami School. Families can apply by filling out a paper application (KIPP Miami Schools allows sufficient time between the end of the Open Enrollment period and the date of the lottery to process all paper applications.) or applying through our website at https://www.kippmiami.org/enroll. The application process is simple and convenient for our families through our Quick Apply Form. KIPP Miami Schools maintains a database of applicants that includes information such as student and parent names, contact information, date application received, grade to which student is applying, and any lottery priority status (e.g., siblings).

What is SchoolMint?

SchoolMint is a third-party vendor/system that KIPP Miami uses to gather and store our family’s information. KIPP Miami uses SchoolMint which provides an integrated and sustainable platform. SchoolMint attracts, enrolls, and engages families with user friendly products. Paper applications are manually entered into SchoolMint by the Director of Enrollment.

If I want my child to stay in their current school, do I need to complete an application?

No, you should not apply unless you want your child to attend a new school. If you apply through Miami Enrollment, you run the risk of losing the seat reserved for your child at his/her current school.

On the application, do I have to select a school?

All of our students are placed by their geographical location. Your student will automatically be placed at the nearest KIPP school in your geographical area granted they’re seats available for the requested grade.

What if my child is on the waitlist?

If your child is on the waitlist, we will contact you as soon as a seat opens. If a seat does not open up by the end of the school year, you must reapply. Waitlist numbers do not carry onto the next school year, you must reapply every year until you get in.

When is the deadline to apply?

Miami applications will be open from December and stay open until the end of September. Your best chance of securing a seat is to apply before the end of January.

When will I find out if my child is accepted?

Applicants receive results by Mid- March.

How old does my child have to be to attend?

To qualify for Kindergarten, your child must be five years old by September 1st of the requested year. There are no exceptions.

How much does it cost to apply or attend the school?

There is no application fee or cost to attend. KIPP Miami schools are free public schools.

Can I complete more than one application?

Each child may only enter once. Any duplicate applications will be removed prior to the application processing.
