As we celebrate National School Choice Week, I am reminded of the sense of empowerment I felt with learning about the alternative options available for my daughter’s education – everything from charter and magnet to district and private schools.

We’re grateful to the Aguila family for offering free haircuts to the community so Liberty City students head into the New Year with a new look ready to take on 2020.

We’re happy to report that over 150 kids received free haircuts as part of KIPP Miami’s back to school barbershop event. Thanks to the Kings and Queens salon for offering the Liberty City community their expertise.

KIPP Liberty Academy kicked off the 2019-2020 school year with the opening of its first middle school, which is co-located at Madison Middle School, with more than 170 students in grades fifth and sixth.

We take on the role of mother, father, psychologist, friend, and adviser every day. Plus, we’re watching for learning disabilities, issues at home, peer pressure, drug abuse, and bullying.
